چکیده

The work presented in this paper is concerned with the development of a computational basis for the creation of constructivist learning environments capable of evaluating the process of interaction between the learner and the environment and promoting effective individualised learning based on these evaluations. Central to our approach is the formalisation of the process of learner-environment interaction. As formal entities, such processes can be analysed to inform the decisions of a learning environment concerning the promotion of individualised learning. In this paper, we introduce and discuss the models we have been developing to support the representation and analysis of processes of learner-environment interaction.

Built-In Learner Participation Potential of Locally- and Globally-Designed ELT Materials

This study aims at empirically measuring a universal criterion for materials evaluation, i.e., learning opportunities, in a locally- and a globally-designed materials. Adopting the conceptual framework of sociocultural theory and its conceptualization of learning as participation (Donato, 2000), the researchers utilized the methodological power of conversation analysis to examine how opportunit...

A Process-Sensitive Learning Environment Architecture

In this paper we describe an architecture for intelligent learning environments that provides means to analyse the process rather than the product of learning, in order to support the development of individualised learning experiences in environments oriented by a more open and constructivist philosophy of learning. The architecture is described in terms of the conceptual structure and function...

E-Learning Strategies in Technical Part-Time Studies at Campus Pinkafeld - A Moderate Constructivist Approach to Learning and Teaching

The introduction of part-time studies contributed decisively to a wider acceptance of technical degree programmes at Campus Pinkafeld as their particular organisational design allows students to study alongside work and family commitments. As far as higher technical education is concerned, they provide constructivist-oriented pedagogic approaches to best prepare students for the workplace. In c...

Object-Oriented Software Development Education: a Constructivist Framework

The paper argues for the importance of the constructivist learning theory to software development education. Constructivism frames learning less as the product of passive transmission than a process of active construction whereby learners construct their own knowledge based upon prior knowledge and experience. Now that a number of software development courses offer projectbased teaching, it see...

The constructivist school views knowledge as a constructed ...
